Reflecting on
'The New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose'
by Eckhart Tolle
Four Thursdays: June 9, 16, 23, 30, 2011 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
Facilitated by
Betty Priolo
using abstracts from The New Earth selected by Bert Colbourne
In his book, Eckhart Tolle get to the root of the matter--the EGO. He writes "transcending our ego based state of consciousness is not only essential to person happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world."
The group had an opportunity to read abstracts of each chapter and share insights.
Reading the chapters ahead of time will help each participant reflect on their own experiences. Reflection leads to insights that can be share; which can transform our very lives. This is a process that grows with practice. We see this not just as a basic study but an exploration of ideas based on the book. We ask that you read assigned material before each class and come with an intention of sharing practices that support our growth.

The "perennial philosophy" is a term coined by Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, and popularized in 1945 by Aldous Huxley. The perennial philosophy maintains that there is a unifying thread of ideas in all religious traditions that focuses on the Divine Reality made manifest in and through us and in the world we experience. To awaken to, or discover, this truth is our primary task. These ancient mystical ideas are present today and can be found in modern wisdom teachings including Unity.
May 12. "Who am I?" That which God is, I am.
May 19. "Why am I here?"
To discover that I am a unique expression of the divine.
May 26. "How Can I Experience the Divine Reality?"
Through contemplative practices, especially prayer,
meditation, going into the silence.
